About the project

brainDown is a private, local-first system for organising Juan’s knowledge, study and projects throughout his life. It is conceived as a cognitive briefcase: a portable and durable place for notes, sources, projects, code, publications, bookmarks and other materials worth preserving.

Plain Markdown files are its source of truth, while Quarto provides a searchable website for navigating the collection locally. Its central workflow turns external sources into processed records that can be connected with memories, projects or publications.

The project is currently an early prototype. Its source code is hosted in a private GitHub repository; access can be requested from the author.
